Myanmar has been touted as "the next big tourism destination" for some years, but moving in the country has been difficult.
ATMs were absent or limited only to the local people, internet was something that apparently no one had heard and tourism was restricted to places that the government wanted you to see.
That has begun to change and will accelerate next year.
"The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar prepared a 'master plan' and a 'responsible tourism policy' to map the future of tourism in the country," says the professor of tourism policies Donald E. Hawkins.
