Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has today published its Travel Price Projection for 2014, showing travel costs worldwide will increase moderately in line with economic growth.

Christophe Renard, vice president, CWT Solutions Group, said. "Although we expect an increase in prices next year, there are some notable exceptions Prices in Europe are likely to decline due to the continuing economic uncertainty in the region, while markets emerging as Argentina could experience increases due to projected GDP growth to high and significant inflationary increases. "
Air Projections 2014
A sudden increase in Latin America up to 4 percent in air prices are generally expected, Venezuela and Argentina being the countries with the largest increases in the world, with 8 and 13 percent respectively.

    Projections hotels in 2014

Hotel rates in Latin America could increase by up to 5.8 percent. CWT expects rates for hotels in Venezuela to rise significantly, by up to 16 percent. Brazil will see the second highest increase in rates, up 8.4 percent, thanks in part to the World Cup in the summer of 2014.

Baseline projections for 2014

Small price increases seem likely for land transport over 2014, and renting cars and trains are still viable alternatives to certain types of air transport. Some markets are seeing increases in the prices of car rental for the first time in years, and this trend may continue in the near future.

In Latin America it could be price increases of up to 3.6 percent in the rental market vehicles next year, while the proposed high-speed rail-long discussed in the region has not yet come to fruition.
Meetings and Events projections for 2014 (M & E)

Latin America will see price increases of 4 to 7 percent. As a result, the size of the group in the region will be reduced by 2 percent, and could have an internal change rather than international meetings.
